48-year-old female, thyroidectomy after unsuccessful drug treatment of hyperthyroidism with anti-thyroid drugs

- Small to medium sized, irregularly formed thyroid follicle with little or no colloid
- The epithelium is epithelium and contains several layers in parts with papillary epithelial proliferation(hyperplasia).

Pathogenesis:
immunological hypersensitivity reaction type II; antibodies (TSI= thyroid stimulating immunoglobins) stimulate the TSH receptor and mimic the effect of TSH.

Clinical:
symptoms of increased T3 and T4 secretion. Hyperthyroidism increased synthesis of structural proteins of thyroid gland lead to hyperplasia and the development of a goitre
