80-year-old male. Incidental postmortem finding. The meningeoma of the falx of the dura mater (falx menigeoma) is approximately 3 cm long and 1.5 cm thick.
- The tumour cells form a synctitium without a distinct plasma membrane.
- Typically seen are onion bulb formations which occasionally degenerate and calcify (psammoma bodies).
- A further characteristic feature are the nuclei, which appear to be empty.
