- The bone marrow is moderately hypercellular and is penetrated by a fine net of fibres. The bone marrow sinusoids are enlarged.
- In fibrous areas, numerous dysplastic megakaryocytes and micromegakaryocytes can be seen.

- Myelopoiesis with disturbed maturation
Fibrosis/sclerosis is a reactive process and can be caused bymyeloproliferative syndrome or a neoplasm.
