70-year.old male with large transmural anterior wall infarction
and proximal occlusion of the anterior descending branch. Autopsy
- Cross-section of coronaries shows thrombotic occlusion
- Atheroma in intima with areas spared (cholesterol crystals) and
foam cells, partly penetrated with blood.
- Layered thrombus partly penetrated with cholesterol and foam cells
- The media is atrophic in parts, whereas the adventitia is widened.
