50-year-old male, one-sided recurrent painful swelling of the submandibular gland especially during and after meals. Excision of the gland.
Salivary gland excision preparation with central canalectasis. Etiology: sialolithiasis (not shown)

- partial atrophy of gland parenchyma due to continued partly acute granulocytic inflammation in the canaliculi and consecutive chronic inflammatory infiltration of gland parenchyma with lymphocytes, plasma cells and histiocytes.
- Fibrosis of connective tissue
- Extensive inflammatory infiltrate consisting of lymphocytes, histiocytes and plasma cells as well as clusters of granulocytic infiltrates
