This is a hamartomatous polyp of the small bowel, probably caused
by Peutz-Jeghers syndrome.
- Only a small section of normal small bowel mucosa can be seen
on this specimen.
- The main part of the specimen shows a hamartomatous polyp with
bundles of smooth muscle extending in a tree-like fashion. The smooth
muscle is covered with epithelium, partly villous and partly tubular,
as well as lamina propria. The covering epithelium looks similar
to the normal colonic epithelium.
- There is no dyplasia.
