A IV 56 Acute myeloid leukemia not otherwise categorised (WHO 2001), bone marrow HE further information (German) on HiPaKu 
  ICD-10: C92.0; ICD-O: 9861/3
42-year female was diagnosed with AML 1 year before death (specimen from autopsy).
- Hypercellular bone marrow in which fat and normal hematopoiesis are nearly completely replaced by immature appearing leukemic cells (packed marrow). Only scant residual erythropoiesis is observed.
- Majority of the cells are large blasts with quite abundant cytoplasm. Apoptoses are conspicuous.

Possible complication: opportunistic pneumonia with fungi (see slide A IV 10)
