Female, 55 y., dies after traffic accident. Autopsy material
 
- normal architecture of parenchyma
- Macrovesicular fatty changes: majority of hepatocytes with optical empty, circular area of cytoplasm compressing the nucleus: this area corresponds to triglycerid deposits which lie free in the cytosol (without limitation by a membrane)
- microvesicular fatty changes: numerous small, intracytoplasmic lipid deposits
- few hepatocytes without fatty change are limited to zone 1 of the liver acinus
- narrowed sinusoids
- Focal centroacinar pericellular fibrosis as a clue to alcohol abuse
