62-year old female with breast cancer developed severe hypercalcemia due to bone metastases (specimen from autopsy).
 
- The parenchyma of the kidney is maintained. Focally, fibrosis and tubular atrophy are distinct.
- Lumens of some collecting tubules, but also of some distal and proximal tubules are filled with calcified necrotic epithelial cells and protein deposits. Calcification of the surrounding basement membrane and interstitial tissue may be observed.
